Issue Alert: CPS Reprocessing on Nov. 12, 2021, for Application and Correction Records with Null Values for IRS Fields

We are informing all schools that on Nov. 12, 2021, the Central Processing System (CPS) reprocessed 2021–22 and 2022–23 application and correction records with null Internal Revenue Service (IRS) field values due to a processing error between Nov. 1–3, 2021, when the error was resolved.

Reprocessing Information

889 records for 2021–22 and 4962 records for 2022–23 had application or correction transactions processed between Nov. 1–3, 2021 that were impacted by the Nov. 12, 2021 reprocessing.

Several methods exist for schools to identify records resulting from the reprocessing:

  • Reprocessed Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) were sent under the IGSG22OP (for 2021–22) or IGSG23OP (for 2022–23) message class.

  • SARs and ISIRs include Student Aid Report (SAR) comment code 172, which states “This SAR was produced because we processed a change to your information based on information reported to us by another agency or as a result of a processing system change. Review your SAR to see what effect, if any, this change has had on your application, and call 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) if you have any questions.”

  • ISIRs produced as a result of the reprocessing will include a value of “02” for the Reprocessed Reason Code (ISIR field #243)

  • In a future release, the FAA Information page in Student Inquiry on the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site will be updated to display “02” for the Reprocessing Code for the transaction resulting from the reprocessing.
