Subject: Issue Alert: Incorrect Field Justification for Verification Tracking Flag in 2013-2014 EDE Technical Reference
We wish to alert users that we have identified incorrect field justification information in the 2013-2014 EDE Technical Reference, which we most recently updated in December 2012. This issue was originally discovered by a third-party software vendor and reported on the FSATECH listserv.
Issue Background
The ISIR Record Description/Data Dictionary in the Record Layouts section of the 2013-2014 EDE Technical Reference currently lists the four-byte Verification Tracking Flag (field #370) as a left-justified field. This justification implies that the two-byte valid values (V1 through V5) associated with this field are listed in the first two field positions (2813 and 2814) instead of the last two positions (2815 and 2816).
After researching this issue, we determined that the field is actually right-justified, meaning that Verification Tracking Flag values are sent in the last two positions (2815 and 2816), not the first two positions, as currently indicated by the 2013-2014 EDE Technical Reference.
Resolution
There are no plans at this time to publish an updated 2013-2014 EDE Technical Reference solely to correct this issue. If additional issues or corrections are identified that require updates to the version of the 2013-2014 EDE Technical Reference published in December 2012, we will include this correction as part of those updates. In the interim, we ask that you make note of this field justification correction in your current copy of the document.
