Subject: Updated Record Layout for NSLDS School Portfolio Report (SCHPR1)

We are pleased to announce an updated record layout for the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) School Portfolio Report (SCHPR1). This report, available by request under the Report Tab on the NSLDS Professional Access Web site, provides a school with information about all William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) and/or Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program loans associated with its school code. It includes loans that are serviced by all servicers, including our federal loan servicers, and provides identifying information about the servicer for each loan. The report is delivered to the school’s Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) mailbox.

For complete information about this report, refer to NSLDS Newsletter 29, posted to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site on January 6, 2011.

To increase the usefulness of the report, the SCHPR1 record layout has been updated as follows:

  • Four new fields have been added: Current Loan Servicer Code, Rehabilitation/Repurchased Indicator, Rehabilitation/Repurchased Date, and Amount Rehabilitated/Repurchased;

  • The total length of the record layout (header, detail, and trailer records) has been expanded from 319 to 400 bytes;

  • The Student DOB field format has been changed from Numeric to Date;

  • The Interest Rate Code field format has been changed from Numeric to Character;

  • The Claim/Discharge Reason Code field format has been changed from Numeric to Character;

  • The Claim/Discharge Date Paid field format has been changed from Numeric to Date; and

  • Several field descriptions have been updated to more clearly describe the data in the field when a FFEL program loan is purchased by the U.S. Department of Education (the Department).

The updated record layout is posted to the NSLDS Record Layouts page on the IFAP Web site.
