Subject: 2017-18 FAFSA Email Campaign Launch

In past years, we provided FAFSA renewal reminder emails to eligible students in January–February of each year. With the changes to the 2017–18 FAFSA, we decided to expand this effort and conduct two separate FAFSA email campaigns:

  • October–December 2016

  • January 2017

Last week, we launched the first email campaign targeting all 2016–17 FAFSA filers who have not yet submitted a 2017–18 FAFSA. The goals of the email campaign are to make customers aware of the recent FAFSA changes and to encourage them to complete the 2017–18 FAFSA. Eligible students who have a valid email address in the Central Processing System will receive an email at some point between now and early December. Students may receive different messages based on certain factors. The specific email text is attached to this notice for your reference.

In January, students who are renewal eligible, but have not submitted a 2017–18 FAFSA, will receive an email reminder as they have in prior years. We will post an Electronic Announcement in advance of the renewal reminder email campaign and we will include the email text.

Feel free to use language from the attached email messages in your own communications.
