
Virginia Hagins has been with the U.S. Department of Education (ED) since 1999 when she joined as a Direct Loan Client Account Manager. She assisted schools with the Direct Loan Program by training them on Direct Loans and technical processes. In 2004, she moved over to the Training Division and became a Training Officer. She continues to train institutional staff via webinars and in person on the rules and regulations of ED’s office of Federal Student Aid. She also assists in developing virtual and online training resources. Before working for ED, she worked in financial aid at Delta Community College for 13 years and later at California State University, Sacramento, where she specialized in eligibility, packaging, verification, Federal Work-Study, and Direct Loan processing. A California native, she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine.
