Eric Hardy is a program manager in Policy Implementation and Oversight (PIO). He joined Federal Student Aid (FSA) in 2009 and joined PIO in 2019. PIO serves as the principal office advising FSA on higher education policy to ensure that operations are considered in policy development and once enacted, that policy is implemented to meet intended goals. In PIO, Eric primarily focuses on loan policy. Over the past year, Eric’s projects included implementing changes to Public Service Loan Forgiveness, the IDR account adjustment, the Saving on a Valuable Education Plan, and other loan-related regulatory packages for 2023 and 2024. Prior to PIO, Eric had 15 years of experience working on and managing the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS®) database. On the NSLDS team, he was primarily focused on loan reporting from federal loan servicers, institutions, and guaranty agencies, as well as enrollment reporting from schools and institutions. Prior to his work at FSA, Eric worked at three private universities and one trade school. In his free time, Eric enjoys traveling, and most weekends he can be found touring around the mid-Atlantic region on his Vespa GTS.
