Alanna Nelson is a Management and Program Analyst for the Campus-Based Division at Federal Student Aid (FSA). She has been in the role for over seven years, assisting schools through the complexities of the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate process and seeing through the successful transition of Campus-Based into the Common Origination and Disbursement System. Alanna began her financial aid career over 18 years ago as a work-study student at UMass, Amherst, where she completed her B.A. and later returned to earn a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration. She has always been driven by the goal of improving outcomes for students at every level, by addressing inequity, and expanding access. Not only does she bring this passion to her work at FSA, but also to her community– she is currently a founding member of a proposed Waldorf-inspired charter school in Baltimore city.
