Subject: 2008-2009 Specifications for Software Developers (Updated)

Federal Student Aid is alerting schools, servicers and third-party software developers that we have posted an updated version of the Specifications for Software Developers for the 2008-2009 cycle.

This updated version adds reject suppression edits that can be set by financial aid administrators (FAAs) for Reject Codes 3, 4, 12, and 20 (4059-4062). The omission of these reject suppression edits from the prior versions of the Specifications for Software Developers for the 2008-2009 cycle caused confusion for servicers who received Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) in which FAAs had overridden the reject codes.

If you have questions related to the specifications, please contact Teri Hunt, Macro International, at Teri.Hunt@macrointernational.com or at 301/572-0263.
