Publication Date: September 2007 Bulletin ID: DLB-07-19 Summary: New Direct Loan Entrance Counseling Video Posted on 09-13-2007 Dear Partner: Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce that the new Direct Loan Entrance Counseling video is now available on the Web and will soon be mailed to all schools participating in the Direct Loan Program. The new edition of the Entrance Counseling video reflects statutory and regulatory changes through August 2007 and can be used to fulfill the entrance counseling requirements described in the Volume 2, Chapter 6 of the “Federal Student Aid Handbook” posted on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site. A new Exit Counseling video is in production and will be released later this fall. The Direct Loan Entrance Counseling video is available to view on the Direct Loan Web site’s Professionals Page. It can also be viewed by clicking the following link: http://media.ed.gov:8080/ramgen/fsa/directloanentrance/fsaentvid2.smil?usehostname. A school can use this video during on-campus counseling sessions or while working with individual students. Note: For technical reasons, the video cannot be downloaded. However, as explained next, the video will be available soon on DVD. Once the duplication process is complete (expected to be late October 2007), the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling video will be mailed to each Direct Loan school on a DVD that includes both an English and a Spanish version. The English version is closed-captioned for hearing-impaired students. We will mail the video to the financial aid office address on file for each Direct Loan school in the Postsecondary Education Participants System (PEPS). In a couple months, additional copies of the DVD will be available for order through FSAPubs. Printed Entrance Counseling guides are now available to order from FSAPubs. Printed Exit Counseling materials will also be available soon. We will provide you more details about the materials at FSAPubs in a future Direct Loan Bulletin. If you have questions about the contents of the video or its availability, please contact the Research and Customer Care Center (RCCC) at 800/433-7327 or by fax at 202/275-5532. You can also e-mail the RCCC at fsa.customer.support@ed.gov. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in the Direct Loan Program. Sincerely, William Leith |
