Subject: Loan Origination System Unavailable - April 25 to April 28, 2002

Dear Partner:

This bulletin is to provide you important information about changes in Direct Loan records processing in support of the Common Origination Disbursement (COD) implementation, scheduled to occur on Monday, April 29, 2002. Please take some time today to review this information as it will have some impact, although minimal, on your normal processing of Direct Loan (DL) records.

The Loan Origination Center (LOC) will process all DL batches received through close of business (Midnight, 12:00 AM Central Time Zone), Wednesday, April 24, 2002. At precisely 12:01 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2002, both the LO System and LO WEB will be non-operational. The LO system will continue receiving records submitted, but will not process any batches received until Sunday, April 28, 2002 (1 PM Central Time Zone). Batches received by the LO system during this brief non-operational timeframe will be processed on Sunday and acknowledgements should be sent back to affected schools early on Monday, April 29, 2002.

We apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this operational issue, but want to insure that the COD implementation occurs as scheduled and is as transparent as possible to all partners. Thanks for your consideration in this matter and continued support of FSA.
