Subject: 2000-2001 Report Changes

Dear Partner:

This bulletin provides information on the new report changes for the 2000-2001 school year. We hope the changes will assist you in maintaining records and in closing out the program year.

School Report Options
You have the following report options on the LO Web Application:

  • You may opt to receive or not receive a report.
  • You may request the following reports in either a preformatted or delimited ASCII format: ADL, ADR, 30-Day Warning Report, Inactive Loans Report, SSN/Name/DOB Change report, Pending SSN Changes over 45 days Report, Duplicate Student Borrower Report, and Disbursement Not Yet Booked at Servicing Report.
  • You may specify the delimiter character (pipe or comma) for delimited reports.Delimited ASCII files will now include column headers.

Duplicate Student Borrower Report
Beginning July 1, 2001, for program years 2001-2002 forward, the Duplicate Student Borrower Report will no longer contain loan data for three program years. The report has been modified to display loan data for only the two most current program years. This means that on each July 1, the older program year will drop off and the new program year will appear on the report.

30-Day Warning Report
A loan is not displayed on the 30-day warning report when either of the following conditions exists:

  • The first anticipated date is more than 120 days from the month end date.
  • The loan does not have an accepted promissory note or an actual disbursement received at the Loan Origination System (LOS).

The LOS reports an unbooked loan on the 30-Day Warning Report if an accepted promissory note or an actual disbursement is received at the LOS.

732 and DLSAS reports
You must receive either the 732 or DLSAS for 01-02. Once you finish processing a particular program year, you may request not to receive the report. If activity occurs after you no longer receive a report, you will begin receiving the report again.

732 Report
The new record layouts are applied to the 732 report for program year 2001-2002 (pages 1-121 to 1-139 in the Direct Loan Technical Reference). Previous 732 reports will continue to use the format for earlier program years through 2000-2001. Starting with 2001-2002, you are given an option, via the LO web application, to either receive or not receive the 732 report by program year. You will also be able to send corrections to update data and, if necessary, request another 732 report reflecting the corrected information. You also may request either the 732 Loan Detail Report or the 732 Disbursement Activity Report. The default option is set for the 732 Loan Detail Report. 732 Reports will not be generated after a program year is officially closed.

Please see DLB-01-08 for the 732 schedule.

DLSAS Report
The new record layouts are applied to the DLSAS report for program year 2001-2002 and forward (pages 1-100 to 1-117 in the Direct Loan Technical Reference). Previous DLSAS reports will continue to use the current format for program years through 2000-2001. Starting with 2001-2002, you are given an option, via the LO web application, to either receive or not receive the DLSAS report by program year. You are also may request and receive the DLSAS in either the current text format or the new delimited ASCII format with column headers. Keep in mind that the default setting for the DLSAS is text format. DLSAS reports will not be generated after the Department has officially closed a program year.

We hope these report changes will allow you to more efficiently process Direct Loans, and thank you for your ongoing partnership in the Direct Loan program.

Sincerely,

Jane Holman
