Subject: Entrance Counseling and Direct Loan Origination Online Web Enhancements
Dear Partner,
We are pleased to announce an important new feature on the Direct Loan Origination Online web site. Schools can now retrieve entrance counseling results from the site!
Please note that we have modified the entrance counseling online site to respond to your concerns raised at the Dallas Electronic Access Conference (EAC). Prior to the Dallas EAC and as part of our early design enhancements, the counseling site required a student to enter his Department of Education PIN before he could log on and take the quiz. While many people were involved in this design effort, we failed to consider that a student might not have a PIN at the time he takes the entrance counseling.
We, therefore, modified the design. A student now may enter a Department of Education PIN in order to take the entrance counseling quiz, or he may enter his name, social security number, and date of birth. No PIN or personal information is required to go through the entrance counseling tutorial.
By collecting personal information from students, they will have the option to review the quiz results at a later date and/or add more schools to the list of those receiving the results. Also, by storing the student's information, we will be able to determine when a student fails the quiz three times and refer the student back to the financial aid office.
If you have suggestions for improving the web site or if you need technical assistance, please use the "Contact Us" feature on the home page or the "Feedback" feature within the system. You may also contact your Customer Service Representative at the Loan Origination Center.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in the Direct Loan program.
Sincerely,
Jane Holman
