Subject: A message from Kay Jacks regarding the Ending Cash Balance confirmation/appeal procedures for 1998-99 Program Year Closeout

Dear Partner:

The Direct Loan Operations Team (DLOPS) recently mailed you a letter informing you of your school's official ending cash balance for the 1998-99 program year as of August 25, 2000. This letter included a form for you to fill out and return to DLOPS, either confirming or appealing your official ending cash balance, no later than September 22, 2000. If you did not receive a copy of this letter and the 1998-1999 Direct Loans Confirmation/Appeal Form, please contact DLOPS immediately at their voice mailbox, (202) 205-6466.

I would like to impress upon you the importance of promptly and accurately responding to the contents of this letter. The Department is committed to closing out the 1998-99 program year in a timely manner to promote program integrity and to ensure customer satisfaction for our borrowers, and your attention to the closeout process is critical to achieving this mutually beneficial goal.

Please make closeout a priority on your campus and correct any unresolved issues expeditiously. Your first step, as I mentioned above, is to respond to the ending cash balance letter you recently received. If you have any questions regarding your individual closeout issues, please contact DLOPS or a Client Account Manager in your region immediately to ensure resolution before the approaching deadlines.

Again, thank you for your attention to the reconciliation process, and thank you for your ongoing partnership in the Direct Loan program.

Sincerely,

Kay Jacks
