| PublicationDate: 8/1/2000 BulletinID: DLB - 00 - 41 August 2000 DLB 00-41 Subject: Program Year 1998-99 Closeout Dear Partner, The closeout deadline for the 1998-99 Direct Loan program year has now passed, and we want to thank those of you who have successfully closed out the year. We appreciate the effort you and your staff put forth in order to assist in reconciliation. The following briefly describes how the Department's Direct Loan Operations Team (DLOPS) will proceed to finalize closeout for 1998-99. By the end of August you will receive a closeout letter based on the balance in the 732-LOS report dated August 11, 2000. This letter will detail the procedures to confirm or dispute your balance. In the meantime, you may continue to work on outstanding school issues with the Loan Origination Center (LOC). However, GAPS will remain closed to schools for cash transactions for the 1998-99 program year. If you need to make GAPS adjustments involving closed years, please contact DLOPS at 202/205-6466.
