PublicationDate: 1/1/2000 BulletinID: DLB - 00 - 3 January 2000 DLB 00-03 Subject: Scheduled Downtime of the Loan Origination System (LOS) Database at the Loan Origination Center February 18 to February 28, 2000 Dear Partner: In preparation for the release of the new Direct Loan software for program year 2000/2001, the Loan Origination System (LOS) will follow the implementation schedule listed and explained below. Due to large data changes that are required for this years software release, the LOS database will be down from February 18, 2000 until 8am EST on February 28, 2000. During this time the Loan Origination Center (LOC) will be open, and the customer service representatives (CSRs) will take notes on any action items that require research. Because the LOS database will be down, the call routing processes will be inactive. When you call the LOC your call will be answered by the first available CSR. If you wish to talk to your CSR, the LOC staff will transfer your call. Your CSR will take notes from the call and begin working on the questions and issues on the morning of February 28th. The LOS will process all data received on the TIV WAN by 8:00 PM EST on February 17, 2000 during the cycle that begins on February 17th. Return acknowledgments will be sent on February 18, 2000. Beginning on February 18th, the LOS will retrieve school data from the TIV WAN each night at 8:00 PM EST and store that data for processing. All batch data will be processed in the date order it was received. The LOC will use the week of February 28th through March 3rd to process the previous weeks data and get caught up on the current data. Below is the schedule for processing the data.
For those schools that have the LOC draw down funds, the LOC will run a final drawdown on Wednesday, February 16 that will cover loans from February 16 through Thursday, March 2. The next drawdown will run on Sunday, February 27. We apologize for the inconvenience the downtime will cause. However, the upgrade in the Direct Loan software will allow loans to be processed more efficiently. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in the Direct Loan program. Sincerely, Margaret E.
