Subject: Exit Counseling Demonstration Site

Dear Partner:

In our September Direct Loan Bulletin 99-59, we announced the implementation of the new Direct Loan Exit Counseling feature on the Direct Loan Servicer web site. We also promised to develop a demonstration web site that you can view from your personal computer.

The On-line Exit Counseling session was added at the request of schools to assist in meeting exit counseling requirements. We solicited comments on the proposed web site from many schools at the 1999 Direct Loan Annual Conference and incorporated many of those comments and suggestions into the final product, which was made available to students in September 1999.

The demonstration site is an exact replica of the exit counseling site that borrowers use. We have provided a list of test accounts for you to use in accessing this site.

Please take a few minutes to view the demonstration Exit Counseling feature on the Direct Loan Servicer web site. Follow these steps when logging onto the web site:

The URL:
www.dlservicer.ed.gov/demo

Log-on procedures:

From the "Home Page" select Account Information;
Select the Borrower Information Logon Page button and then select OK when the "Collecting Your Information" page is displayed;
Select the Using a PIN log-on button. The PIN log-on screen will then be displayed;
Enter the SSN, first two letters of the last name, and DOB of one of the borrowers below, and select the Submit Request button.
[NOTE: It is not necessary to enter a PIN as the data below is simulated and not actual borrower information.]
Once the validation process has occurred, you will be redirected to the Servicing web site and will then have access to the Exit Counseling option.
