PublicationDate: 3/1/99 BulletinID: DLB - 99 - 16 March 1999 DLB 99-16 Subject: New Disclosure Statement Dear Colleague: This bulletin follows up on the information provided in Greg WoodsÂ’ Dear Colleague letter, GEN-99-08, dated February 1999. The letter's summary is: Introduction of the Master Promissory Note in the Direct Loan Program for Academic Year 1999-2000. In the materials that accompany that letter, Greg Woods refers to the new Disclosure Statement that the Loan Origination Center (LOC) will mail to the student either before or at the time of the first disbursement. The Disclosure Statement gives students specific information about the loan types, amounts, and anticipated disbursement dates. Previously this information appeared on the promissory note. We are attaching a copy of the new Disclosure Statement to this bulletin. The LOC will mail a Disclosure Statement for every accepted loan origination record. The loan-specific dollars and dates on the Statement come from the loan origination record. Please review pages 4 and 5 of the Dear Colleague letter to review the options available to schools concerning Disclosure Statements. GEN 99-08 may be found on the IFAP web page under the Bookshelf.
