Subject: Direct Loan Task Force Staff Changes

Dear Colleague:

As many of you know, the new Chief Operating Officer of the Office of Student Financial Assistance Programs, Greg Woods, has established a Customer Service Task Force as a major first initiative. The Task Force will develop a comprehensive set of proposals to improve services and cut costs in delivering student aid.

I have been selected to be part of this important effort to improve services to our ultimate customer, the student, and to our partners – schools, banks, and guaranty agencies. I feel honored to be part of this essential task. The detail is effective immediately, and I will serve on the Customer Service Task Force until July 1, 1999.

In my absence, I am pleased to announce that Margaret E. White will serve as the Acting Chair of the Direct Loan Task Force. Marge has served very capably as Deputy Chair for the past two years. Marge is a superb manager with experience in finance and program operations, as well as program administration.

While I will miss working with you as Chair of the Direct Loan Task Force, I look forward to listening to your ideas and suggestions for improving customer service.

Sincerely,

Joe L. McCormick
Chair
Direct Loan Task Force
