Section I "Preparer's Use Only"

The law requires that if anyone other than a student, the student's
spouse, or the student's parents prepared the application, then the
preparer must write in his or her name, the firm/company name (if
applicable), the firm/company address, and the firm/company's
Employer Identification Number (EIN) as assigned by the Internal
Revenue Service or the preparer's Social Security Number.

Question 110 requires the preparer to sign the form.

High school counselors, financial aid administrators, and others who
help students with their applications by actually filling out line items
on the form or dictating responses to items on the form are
considered preparers. Preparers must complete this section even if
they are not paid for their services.
