PublicationDate: 11/1/95 BulletinID: DLB - 95 - 17 NOVEMBER 1995 DLB-17 SUMMARY: Direct Loan Update Sessions for San Francisco and Orlando EDE Workshops As mentioned in Action Letter #2, dated October 1995, portions of the upcoming EDE workshops in San Francisco, California and Orlando, Florida will include update sessions and other information sessions on Direct Loans for 1996-97. This bulletin describes those sessions. REMEMBER, IF YOUR SCHOOL WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND ONE OF THESE WORKSHOPS, YOU SHOULD COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FORM ENCLOSED WITH ACTION LETTER #2. Tentative Agenda for Direct Loan Orientation Session November 28, 1995--San Francisco, CA December 11, 1995--Orlando, FL 8:45 am-Noon Provides a legislative and regulations update; a consolidation update; program and training information; and an overview of customer support, technical assistance, and general program operations, including an overview of the loan origination functions the Direct Loan Servicing Center will perform. This session will also discuss the transition of the loan origination function from Computer Data Systems, Inc. to Educational Data Systems. There are two breakout sessions that will be held as part of the afternoon concurrent sessions. These are as follows: Direct Loan Users Group Thursday, November 30, 1995 San Francisco, CA Wednesday, December 13, 1995 Orlando, FL Last Concurrent Breakout Session (3:45-5:00 pm) Direct Loan schools can share information with each other and ED on ways to improve the program's administration. Discussion will focus on current year and 1996-97 Direct Loan implementation and operation issues. HBCU Direct Loan Users Group Orlando, FL ONLY Monday, December 11, 1995 Last Concurrent Breakout Session (3:45-5:00 pm) An opportunity for Year One and Year Two HBCUs to discuss their approaches to implementing Direct Loans.
