This chapter reviews the minimally required verification policies
and procedures which must be developed and implemented by your
institution. In addition to the required policies and procedures, you
should institute any other means you feel necessary to ensure that
verification is completed efficiently and accurately.


WRITTEN POLICIES

You must have developed and implemented, and have in writing,
policies on the following verification issues:

- DEADLINES for applicants to submit documentation and
CONSEQUENCES of an applicant's failure to meet the
deadlines

- METHOD OF NOTIFYING applicants of award changes that
result from verification

- Required CORRECTION PROCEDURES for applicants

- MEANS OF PUBLICIZING requirements and procedures

- STANDARD PROCEDURES for referring overpayment cases
to ED
