SUBJECT: Printing Irregularities in Pre-printed Promissory Notes

Dear Colleague:

We have noted printing irregularities in some of the 1997-98 William
D. Ford Federal Direct Stafford Subsidized/Unsubsidized pre-printed
promissory notes. Some boxes of pre-printed notes are formatted
according to specifications, and alignment when printing the student
specific data works smoothly. However, you may have received
boxes of pre-printed notes where the paper is slightly longer and the
p-note is slightly lighter in color. If you experience printing
alignment problems while printing the student specific data on these
forms, you may call 1-800-848-0978 to request a new supply of
pre-printed promissory notes. Once received, please discard or
recycle the irregular promissory note stock.

If you have not experienced alignment problems while printing, or
you have overcome printing alignment problems through other
means, please continue printing promissory notes as usual.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Joe L. McCormick
