PublicationDate: 5/1/97 BulletinID: DLB - 97 - 16 May 1997 DLB-97-16 SUMMARY: Student Status Confirmation Report Processing via the Loan Servicing Center Dear Colleagues: This is to inform you of the status of the processing of your Direct Loan Student Status Confirmation Report (SSCR) transactions through the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and the Direct Loan Servicing Center (Loan Servicing Center). As you know, during the initial implementation of SSCRs through NSLDS to the Loan Servicing Center, the Loan Servicing Center experienced difficulty in processing the volumes of SSCR transactions that were being received, resulting in Direct Loan Schools not being able to see borrower enrollment status changes and the status effective date through multiple iterations of the SSCR update process within NSLDS. Significant changes to the Loan Servicing System have been implemented over the past three months. These changes enable the Loan Servicing Center to process SSCR data in a more timely manner. Any backlog of transactions that remain at the Loan Servicing Center are currently being processed, and should be completely applied to the Loan Servicing System by May 30, 1997. Please remember that schools can set the frequency of receiving SSCR files. You have the option to receive SSCR files two, four, or six times a year and have the ability to send individual updates between file transmissions directly to NSLDS through their on-line SSCR screen. As we have moved forward through this initial implementation, the input provided by you has been instrumental in assisting the Loan Servicing Center to make the SSCR process more efficient. Your patience and feedback has and will continue to be greatly appreciated. If you have specific questions regarding SSCR updates to the Loan Servicing Center, please feel free to contact the Direct Loan Servicing Center--School Relations Staff at 1-888-877-7658. Thank you for your patience and continued support of the Direct Loan Program. Sincerely, Joe L. McCormick, Chair Direct Loan Task Force |
