Request for Comment: FAFSA Form Demographic Survey

The U.S. Department of Education (the Department) is requesting comment on a new information collection to gather demographic information in conjunction with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The FAFSA Simplification Act (FSAct) passed as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (Pub. L. 116-260) amends the Higher Education Act of 1965, Title IV, Sec 483 (B)(ii)(VII) to add sex and race or ethnicity as information required to be provided by the applicant on the FAFSA form.
