Additional COD System Implementation for 2026–27 Award Year (June 2026) (Updated July 31, 2026)
Note

Update on July 31, 2026: The attachment to this announcement describes the new “Enrollment Status Effective Date” field that is required for all new Direct Loan disbursements for the 2026–27 award year and forward. Previously, we planned to suppress rejecting disbursements until Aug. 8, 2026, for schools unable to report this date. We are now extending this timeframe until later in fall 2026.

As a reminder, if a school doesn’t submit the enrollment status effective date with a 2026–27 origination record, the COD System will determine that the student is not eligible for the loan limit exception and will apply all relevant loan limit edits based on the new loan limits effective July 1, 2026. Therefore, schools are strongly encouraged to begin submitting this date as soon as possible.

On June 28, 2026, we will implement additional Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System functionality that supports the processing of Federal Pell Grant, Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan awards and supports the Campus-Based Aid programs for the 2026–27 award year.

COD System Outage Information

We will suspend COD batch processing from midnight until 11 a.m. Eastern time (ET) on Sunday, June 28, 2026, to implement the COD System functionality. During the outage, we will hold any records that schools submit and process them when the outage is over.

In addition, during the outage, users will not be able to

  • submit or retrieve data via the COD website, and

  • access the “COD Reports” area of the COD website.
