The U.S. Department of Education (ED) is pleased to remind institutions of higher education (IHEs) that the new Section 117 reporting portal is live and available for submission of foreign gifts and contract information. The new reporting portal is located at ForeignFundingHigherEd.gov.
We remind IHEs that ED has provided significant training materials, including a recording of the Dec. 15, 2025, training webinar, which can be found on Federal Student Aid’s Knowledge Center.
As noted in prior communications, if you have technical questions or access issues related to the Section 117 reporting portal, please contact us at ForeignGiftsAccess@ed.gov. For any other (non-technical) questions concerning Section 117, please email the Section 117 compliance team at ForeignSourceReporting@ed.gov.
Reminder
The next date by which IHEs must submit Section 117 disclosure reports is Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. However, because this deadline does not fall on a business day, ED will treat a disclosure report submitted on the first business day following Jan. 31, 2026, as timely. Accordingly, disclosure reports must be submitted to ED no later than Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. Failure to comply with the reporting requirement could result in an enforcement action.
