Note
March 3 Update: An updated set of NSLDS eligibility changes files has been posted to the TG mailbox in SAIG per the guidance in the announcement below. This set of files now includes Reason Code 01, or students who entered default on a Title IV loan that was previously not in default. Reason Code 01 was excluded from the previous set of uploaded files, as noted in APP-25-02. Please consider this manual file the most up-to-date source of information on a student’s post-screening status.
This Electronic Announcement provides guidance on accessing NSLDS Post-screening Eligibility Changes files through the SAIG mailbox.
In the Feb. 11 update to Electronic Announcement (EA) APP-25-02, we noted an account access issue that prevented some institutions from accessing the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS®) Post-screening Eligibility Changes files in the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) website. As of Feb. 18 we have uploaded these files to the TG mailbox associated with the 2024–25 FAFSA Services with your Federal School Code under the message class AHNP25OP or “2025 AdHoc Postscreening File” in the Student Aid Information Gateway (SAIG). You can download the file(s) from your TG mailbox using the Department’s SAIG software (e.g., EDconnect or TDClient).
Please note the following when accessing your files:
-
The data is available as a text file in comma separated value (csv) format. You can view the contents by opening them in an application that will separate the values into columns (e.g., import into a spreadsheet application so you can filter or sort).
-
Data for branch campuses or additional locations are provided as separate files in the mailbox.
-
The OPEID is listed in the message batch number and in the csv file.
-
If a third-party servicer receives SAIG notices on behalf of your institution, please work with your vendor to access the files.
-
Vendors that serve multiple institutions should be aware that the OPEID is listed in the file’s batch number. This should support determining which files are associated with which schools before downloading.
-
As the data contains personally identifiable information, please ensure that any files that a vendor transfers to your institution, or that your institution transfers to a branch campus, are transferred securely.
Finally, please note that the files previously uploaded to the COD website on Jan. 31 will be deleted by Friday, Feb. 21. If you have already accessed and downloaded this file, you should feel free to continue using that file on your local computer. Please refer to the file(s) delivered to your SAIG mailbox moving forward.
As a reminder, we will upload another round of files by the end of February and again by the end of March and provide an update when those are available. Please note that you will only receive a file if there are eligibility changes to report.
We apologize for the delays in this process and are grateful to the financial aid community for your patience on this matter.
