On June 30, 2024, we plan to implement additional Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System functionality that supports the Campus-Based programs and the processing of Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant), Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) awards for the 2024–25 award year.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important activity.

COD System Outage Information

To implement the COD System functionality, we will suspend COD batch processing from midnight to 11 a.m. Eastern time (ET) on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Records submitted via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) during the outage period will be held and processed after 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 30, 2024.

In addition, during the outage, users will not be able to

  • submit or retrieve data from the COD website.

  • access the COD Reports area of the COD website.

Additional COD System Implementation Information (June 2024)

With this release, we will implement a few key system changes described below.

  • Addition of 2025–26 Award Year Cycle for Campus-Based Programs – We will add the 2025–26 processing cycle to the COD System. All Campus-Based Program forms and instructions and Campus-Based processes will be updated in the COD System for the 2025–26 application year (and 2023–24 reporting year) and will become available to view and edit beginning on Aug. 1, 2024.   • Campus-Based XML Common Record Schema Processing – The COD System will be able to accept records using the Campus-Based XML schema version 1.0b. For more information about the schema itself, refer to the Campus-Based XML schema posting and Volume 4 of the COD Technical Reference. Operational guidance about using the Campus-Based XML schema to report Federal Work-Study earnings (for calendar year 2023) will be provided in a forthcoming announcement.

  • Reporting Template for schools with an approved Prison Education Program (PEP) – We will release the reporting template schools use to provide data about confined or incarcerated Pell Grant recipients enrolled in an eligible PEP. More information about this change will be provided directly to those schools with an approved PEP.
