NSLDS Professional Access – Upcoming Special NSLDS Postscreening for Aggregate Loan Limits

In addition to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS®) postscreening for the 2023–24 and 2022–23 award years that we complete each week, we will complete a special NSLDS postscreening this week. The special postscreening will ensure correct information for students who were incorrectly flagged for aggregate loan limits during the period of Jan. 2–March 27, 2023. Student records impacted by this issue may incorrectly include one of the following NSLDS Postscreening Reason Codes:

  • Postscreening Reason Code 09 – Student has exceeded subsidized aggregate loan limit

  • Postscreening Reason Code 10 – Student has exceeded combined aggregate loan limit

  • Postscreening Reason Code 11 – Exceeding subsidized loan limit resolved

  • Postscreening Reason Code 12 – Exceeding combined loan limit resolved

To ensure impacted records for the 2023–24 award year (510 applicants) and 2022–23 award year (10,559 applicants) contain the most current information related to aggregate loan limits, we will process and send updated Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) transactions to affected schools by Friday, April 14, 2023. These postscreened ISIRs will be identified by Postscreening Reason Code 99.

Schools should disregard Postscreening Reason Codes 09–12 received during the period of Jan. 2–March 27, 2023. Beginning with receipt of this week’s postscreened ISIRs and going forward, schools must take action on Postscreening Reason Codes 09–12 per the SAR Comment Codes and Text reference guide for the applicable award year.
