2023–24 Federal School Code List of Participating Schools (November 2022)

We are pleased to announce the availability of the initial 2023–24 Federal School Code (FSC) List of Participating Schools. The Federal School Code List contains the unique codes assigned by the Department of Education for schools participating in the Title IV federal student aid programs. Students enter these codes on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form to indicate which postsecondary schools will receive the processed application results.

The Federal School Code List of Participating Schools is available electronically in PDF format and as a Microsoft Excel (XLS) file, and is posted on a quarterly basis. The XLS file provides the most current FSC information available in a searchable format. There is also search functionality available on fafsa.gov.

Submitting Updates to FSC Information

School name and address information must be kept current. If your school's name or address has changed, you must submit an “Update” application through the Electronic Application for Approval to Participate in the Federal Student Financial Aid Programs (E-App), located at https://eligcert.ed.gov. This information will be used to update the Federal School Code List of Participating Schools.

If you wish to customize how your school’s name or address appears in the Federal School Code List of Participating Schools, or to request that an FSC be created for an approved location, go to the E-App website. Click on “Update your Federal School Code Information which is used by the FAFSA” on the left side of the page under the “Other Features” section and provide the custom information.

Note: A school can only have one city and state for each FSC.

Contact Information

We appreciate your assistance in keeping your school’s FSC information up to date. For help with the E-App Web site, contact the Federal Student Aid School Participation Division for your state. Please see the E-App home page for the phone number of your School Participation Division.
