NSLDS Professional Access – Modernized Website Now Available (Updated Aug. 3, 2022)

Note

Aug. 3 NSLDS Access Resolution Update: We appreciate the financial aid community’s patience and understanding since July 25 as we worked to resolve intermittent server issues that prohibited access to the new NSLDS website. As of today, Aug. 3, we have resolved the server issues and users are no longer experiencing log in issues.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the modernized National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS®) Professional Access website. The updated website features a user interface that includes an enhanced look and feel and an improved user experience for Federal Student Aid’s (FSA’s) professional partners.

Important Reminders

While the updated website presents a new look and feel, several key features remain the same:

  • The NSLDS Professional Access URL continues to be nsldsfap.ed.gov.

  • Users log in with their existing credentials; no additional enrollment is necessary.

  • The NSLDS Customer Support Center is available at 1-800-999-8219 and nslds@ed.gov.

Note: For the duration of the NSLDS outage last week, the NSLDS prescreening match was suspended at the Central Processing System (CPS). Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) that normally would have been sent to NSLDS for prescreening were processed with Comment Code 390. NSLDS prescreening has now resumed. Affected records will be sent to NSLDS for prescreening and ISIRs will be returned to schools with Reprocessing Reason Code 50. NSLDS postscreening will resume on July 30, 2022.

The information we have previously provided about the new website includes the following:

Important Information for NSLDS Enrollment Functionality

We are still in the process of finalizing enrollment functionality in NSLDS Professional Access and would like to highlight several key pieces of information for users:

  • We continue to convert NSLDS Enrollment History and users may temporarily see incomplete data on the website. We expect this conversion will be resolved within the coming week.

  • Enrollment reporting is currently on hold, including online reporting. If users submit enrollment information to NSLDS before enrollment functionality is fully operational, those submissions will be held. When enrollment functionality is operational, users will receive responses from NSLDS to their enrollment reporting submissions.

  • NSLDS reports related to enrollment are currently unavailable. We anticipate that the enrollment reports targeted to be available on July 25, as described in the July 22, 2022 Electronic Announcement, will be available in the near future.

  • Until NSLDS enrollment functionality is fully operational, we are suspending all NSLDS enrollment reporting compliance notifications. We will notify the community when we are ready to resume the notifications.

  • Refer to the “Additional Resources” section below for information about the forthcoming availability of the NSLDS Enrollment Reporting Guide.

Reminder—NSLDS Professional Access Training Videos

As you explore the updated website, you may wish to refer to the library of brief training videos that is available on the FSA Training Center. Each narrated walk-through focuses on frequently-used functionality and provides users with a high-level review of the website’s key features. To view the complete list of topics and to access the training videos, log into the FSA Training Center, choose “Systems Training” from the main menu bar, and then select “NSLDS Training.”

Additional Resources

In the coming days, we will provide additional user resources for the enhanced NSLDS Professional Access, including an updated NSLDS Enrollment Reporting Guide. This guide, published annually on the Knowledge Center website, provides step-by-step instructions for NSLDS enrollment reporting. The updated guide will include visuals to assist users with the website’s new look and feel.

Monitor the Knowledge Center website for announcements of the availability of the NSLDS Enrollment Reporting Guide and other resources.

Note: We will continue to update NSLDS user resources, including user guides and documentation. For a period of time, some resources will contain images and instructions that do not correspond to the updated website. However, in most cases users may continue to refer to the guide or reference until an updated version is available because the resource describes an existing process that has not changed. Please contact the NSLDS Customer Support Center using the contact information below if you have questions about a particular user resource.
