On May 20, 2019 the Department posted an Electronic Announcement that invited institutions to express interest in participating in the Federal Work-Study experiment under the Experimental Sites Initiative (ESI). A Federal Register notice was published on May 23, 2019 and established July 8, 2019, as the priority date by which institutions were asked to submit a letter of interest to ensure the Department considers the institution for participation in the experiment. The notice further indicated that institutions that submit letters after July 8, 2019 may, at the discretion of the Secretary, be considered as additional future participants on a rolling periodic basis.
To allow more time for institutions to submit a letter of interest for participation in this new experiment, we are extending the date by which institutions may submit their letter of interest through September 23, 2019. Please follow the instructions in the Federal Register notice that provides details that should be included in the letter of interest.
The Department will also conduct a webinar on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 1:30pm – 3:00pm Eastern time for institutions interested in applying for the FWS experiment. The webinar will provide more information about the experiment, its regulatory exemptions, the application and selection process, and allow institutions to ask questions about the experiment. The Department will provide further instructions for registering for this webinar in an Electronic Announcement in the next several days.
The Department encourages institutions that are interested in participating in the experiment to submit a letter of interest as soon as possible. The Department will notify institutions that have been approved to participate.
