Subject: 2019-2020 Application Processing System Specifications for Software Developers (August 2018 Draft)

Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the posting of the revised draft Application Processing System Specifications for Software Developers for the 2019–20 cycle.

In this version of the specifications, we updated the Social Security Tax (SST) tables for student and parent information throughout the specifications to correct the amounts listed in the initial specifications. See the Summary of Updates table at the beginning of the specifications for the locations of the updates in the document.

Please note the following:

  • Testing of these specifications will not be complete until October 2018. Software developers should be prepared to receive updates to the specifications until that time.

  • The 2019-2020 Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) layout is included in the 2019-2020 EDE Technical Reference, which is available now on the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) website.

In addition to its current availability on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) website, the specifications will also be available in the next several days from the FSAdownload website, located at https://fsadownload.ed.gov.
