Subject: Additional 2017–18 Supplemental Campus-Based Funds Allocated to School Impacted by the 2017 Hurricanes

In previous announcements (dated September 29, 2017 and December 21, 2017), we informed schools about the distribution of 2017–18 supplemental Campus-Based funds. In this announcement, we provide updated information related to the distribution of additional Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and Federal Work-Study (FWS) funds, as a result of the 2017 hurricanes that have impacted schools.

Under the authority provided in the Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria Education Relief Act of 2017, we have reallocated unexpended 2016–17 Campus-Based funds for the 2017–18 Award Year.

The additional FSEOG funds will be allocated to schools that are located in the FEMA-declared disaster areas.

The additional FWS funds will be allocated to 1) schools that are located in the FEMA-declared disaster areas, and 2) schools that have enrolled a significant number of students that live in the FEMA-declared disaster areas.

Schools are strongly encouraged to award these funds to students impacted by the hurricanes prior to awarding to other eligible students.

IMPORTANT: Schools will have the remainder of the 2017–18 Award Year through the 2018–19 Award Year to expend the additional funding.

School Notification

Schools will be notified by email when supplemental funding allocations have been awarded. This email is sent to the Financial Aid Administrator identified on the most recently submitted FISAP.
