Subject: COD System Changes to School Reports to be Implemented on October 13-15, 2017 (Updated September 28, 2017)

Note: Since July 2017, Federal Student Aid determined that additional reports required layout changes that were not originally listed in the attachments. On September 28, 2017, we updated the attachments to include information about the layout changes for three additional reports. The updated text appears in red and is marked with an asterisk (*).

During the period October 13-15, 2017, we plan to implement Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System functionality that supports the processing of Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant), Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant, Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) awards.

In two attachments to this announcement, we highlight the COD System changes specific to school reports. The changes are being made to upgrade the COD Reporting database platform (the current platform will soon be obsolete). We will also make changes to the format and delivery of some of the reports. Several reports will be retired completely. We encourage schools to review the summary of changes and work with their technology support teams or software vendor to determine the impact to their systems in advance of October 15, 2017.

Note for EDExpress Users:EDExpress users will be impacted by some of the changes to the reports. Specifically, preformatted versions of all reports (except the COD School Monitoring Report) will be retired. As a result, EDExpress will no longer import preformatted reports. In addition, EDExpress will not be updated to import the new comma separated value (CSV) version of the preformatted reports. However, EDExpress will continue to import reports that are currently available in CSV format or fixed-length format.

More information about all school reports produced and sent by the COD System is available in Volume VI, Section 8 of the 2017-2018 COD Technical Reference. Note: The COD Technical Reference will be updated to reflect the upcoming report changes by late August/early September.

Information about other COD System changes that will be implemented during the October 13-15, 2017 period will be posted in a future Electronic Announcement on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) website.
