Subject: Retirement of the Direct Loan Web Site
Effective March 15, 2016, we will retire the Direct Loan Web site (www.direct.ed.gov). Much of the material on the Direct Loan Web site is found on other Federal Student Aid Web sites, primarily the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP), StudentLoans.gov, and StudentAid.gov Web sites. These sites are updated on a regular basis and have the most accurate and current information about the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program for the financial aid community.
For a period of time, we will redirect users visiting the Direct Loan Web site to other Federal Student Aid sites. Schools that have bookmarked any of the Direct Loan Web site pages or reference it in any materials should update those references at the earliest point possible.
We will have the following redirects in place:
-
Users looking for information for financial aid professionals and schools new to the Direct Loan Program will be redirected to the Direct Loan Processing Resources page on the IFAP Web site.
-
Users looking for information for students and parents will be redirected to StudentAid.gov.
We appreciate your understanding as we ensure schools, students, and parents have the most current information about the Direct Loan Program.
