Subject: TPD Discharge Information - Keep FFEL Lender/Lender Servicer, FFEL Guaranty Agency Contact Information Current in NSLDS
In our efforts to support borrowers who have applied for a Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) Discharge, Federal Student Aid reminds Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program lenders/lender servicers and FFEL Program guaranty agencies, it is important to keep servicer contact information current in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). This reminder may also be applicable to some Federal Perkins Loan Program schools.
The Nelnet TPD Servicer uses the contact information in NSLDS in its communications to TPD borrowers throughout the TPD application and monitoring process. The loan holder information and contact information is also used to send Loan Holder Notification (LHN) files to loan holders.
To help ensure TPD borrowers have reliable information about their loans, and your organization receives timely TPD discharge information, we ask that you validate and update your NSLDS Professional Access Web site ORG contacts and always list at least a Primary Contact for your organization. Additionally, it is important to include a Customer Svc (Borrowers) contact as this is particularly helpful in TPD communications.
