Subject: Enhancements to NSLDS MyStudentData Download Functionality

We are pleased to announce that National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS®) "MyStudentData Download" functionality has been enhanced on the NSLDS Student Access and StudentAid.gov Web sites. MyStudentData Download allows students to download their loan, grant, enrollment, overpayment, and program enrollment information from NSLDS into a machine-readable, plain text file.

In an ongoing effort to provide students with their most current and helpful data, the downloadable file and file layout have been updated as follows:

  • “Loan Type Totals” has been increased from a maximum of 18 types to 24, to allow for additional loan types in the output.

  • “Stafford Non-Subsidized” has been added to the list of valid loan type values.

  • “Loan Reaffirmation Date” has been added as a new element to the Loan section of the file layout.

  • The sample output in the file layout (Appendix A) has been updated to reflect the recent enhancements.

We have posted an updated NSLDS MyStudentData Download file layout to the NSLDS Record Layouts page on the IFAP Web site. This document defines the layout of the file that students are able to download from NSLDS Student Access and StudentAid.gov and assists software vendors with designing new tools for students to maximize the usefulness of the data.
