Subject: Gainful Employment Electronic Announcement #56 - Updated NSLDS Gainful Employment User Guide
We are pleased to announce the availability of an updated version of the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Gainful Employment User Guide, now available on the NSLDS User Documentation page on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site. Institutions should use information in this guide to submit required gainful employment (GE) information to the U.S. Department of Education.
The updates to the guide are limited to minor changes from the version we posted in February 2015. We have added information on enhanced NSLDS edits in support of the Social Security Number (SSN) field for the reporting of GE data and we corrected the field size for Field Code 033 in the GE Response Error/Acknowledgement File Detail Record format in Appendix A. Also included with this update is the file layout for the Gainful Employment Data Extract File Report (GENEX1) in Appendix B.
The updated guide can also be downloaded from the "Resources" section of the Gainful Employment Information Page.
As a reminder, the GE final regulations, published on October 31, 2014 with an effective date of July 1, 2015, provide that the deadline for institutions to report GE Program information is July 31, 2015, for the 2008-2009 Award Year through the 2013-2014 Award Year. For certain medical and dental programs the reporting must include data from the 2007-2008 Award Year through the 2013-2014 Award Year. The GE reporting deadline for the 2014-2015 Award Year is October 1, 2015.Contact Information
