Subject: OUTAGE ALERT - Federal Student Aid Website and System Outages Scheduled for May 9-10, 2015 for FSA ID Implementation
As we announced in an April 13, 2015 electronic announcement, the FSA ID will be implemented on May 10, 2015. The FSA ID will replace the Federal Student Aid PIN as the credential with which students, parents, and borrowers authenticate their identity to access their federal student aid information online and electronically sign Federal Student Aid documents.
In order to complete the transition from the PIN to the FSA ID, each impacted website will be unavailable for an extended period of time during the weekend of May 9-10, 2015. After all systems are brought back online on Sunday, May 10, 2015, FSA ID login functionality will have replaced PIN login functionality. At that time, the PIN website will be retired.
This announcement provides information about the specific systems and websites that will be affected during the implementation of the FSA ID. This work will be in addition to the regular maintenance that occurs each weekend.
Please review the information in this announcement and evaluate the impact on your school or organization during the period when the affected websites will be unavailable.
Websites Unavailable from 7 P.M. (ET) on May 9 Until 12 P.M. (ET) on May 10
From 7:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, May 9, 2015 until 12:00 P.M. (ET) on Sunday, May 10, 2015, we will implement FSA ID functionality and users will be unable to access the impacted websites. Users attempting to access one of the following websites during this period will receive an error message informing them that the page cannot be found or that the site is unavailable due to maintenance:
CPS Web Applications Demo System (FAA Access to CPS Online Demo and FAFSA Demo)
FAA Access to CPS Online (including ISIR Analysis Tool and R2T4 on the Web)
FAFSA on the Web
Federal Student Aid PIN
National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Student Access
StudentAid.gov forms and My Federal Student Aid functionality
StudentLoans.gov
TEACH Grant
Note: As explained above, after the outage period ends, the Federal Student Aid PIN website will no longer be available.
