Subject: Issue Alert: Pending Updates to 2014-2015 SAR Deadline Dates Referenced in SAR Comment Codes 125 and 127
We are alerting all schools that the 2014-2015 Student Aid Report (SAR) deadline date referenced in the text for SAR Comment Codes 125 and 127 is outdated and will be corrected in the Central Processing System (CPS) at the end of December 2014. SAR comment codes 125 and 127 are designed to warn students that they are approaching or may have missed the deadline date to submit a valid SAR to their financial aid administrator in time to be considered for a Federal Pell Grant award for a specific processing cycle.
According to Federal Register Volume 79, Number 133, published on July 11, 2014 to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, the 2014-2015 SAR deadline date is now September 28, 2015, not September 26, 2015, as currently referenced by comment codes 125 and 127. The text for 2014-2015 comment codes 125 and 127 will be updated in the CPS and our other systems to reference the correct date.
We will also publish an updated version of the 2014-2015 SAR Comment Codes and Text reference guide in 2015 with corrected SAR deadline date references. The SAR Comment Codes and Text reference guide is designed as a stand-alone guide as well as a companion to the EDE Technical Reference for a specific processing cycle. The guide includes a description of changes to the SAR comments for the given cycle and the complete text associated with all comments.
You can download the latest SAR Comment Codes and Text guide (for both 2014-2015 and 2015-2016) from the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site or the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at https://www.fsadownload.ed.gov.
