Subject: 2014 Federal Student Aid Training Conference for Financial Aid Professionals
The FSA Training Conference will be held in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Congress Center from December 2nd through December 5th, 2014. To date, there are over 4,500 financial aid professionals registered for the conference.
Training Sessions
This year, FSA is offering approximately 57 training sessions over the course of four days on a variety of topics including federal student loan processing, reconciliation, systems and program regulations, as well as program integrity, cohort default rates and more. Based on the positive feedback we received from attendees at last year's conference, the session agenda will again be staggered and there will be no designated lunch period or break times. Once again, it is up to you to schedule your day. Therefore, please review the agenda carefully and be sure to always have a second session choice.
Breakout sessions and a tentative agenda are posted on the conference website: http://www.fsaconferences.ed.gov/program14.html. Within the next month, individual session presentations should be posted.
Food and Refreshments
For breakfast and lunch, the Georgia World Congress Center will provide food and beverages for purchase. You can also purchase food and refreshments at the CNN Center Food Court next door. Details will be listed in your conference program. FSA will not be providing food or beverages.
Lodging
The Omni, Westin, and Hyatt hotels are currently sold out. However, there are still limited rooms available at the Hilton. Information on securing lodging can be found at http://fsaconferences.ed.gov/lodging14.html. Please check back often, as there may be availability due to cancellations, or use your preferred travel websites to secure other lodging. At this time there are no plans to secure additional overflow lodging.
Resource Center
FSA has made some changes to the Resource Center this year, emphasizing the areas of most use to attendees in past years. This year you will notice a more robust Ask-A-Fed, where FSA provides an opportunity for you to get specific questions answered in a one-on-one format. Stations will also be provided for other popular areas such as COD, NSLDS, and much more. If you have questions about a system not represented at its own table, there will be an open demo computer available where other Resource Center staff may be able to assist you. Either way, FSA will ensure that your questions are answered.
On behalf of the Conference Services Team, we look forward to seeing you at this year's FSA Training Conference.
