Subject: EDE Technical Reference (May 2014 Update)

We are pleased to announce the posting of the updated 2014-2015 Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Technical Reference. The EDE Technical Reference provides programmer specifications, record layouts, and other detailed information for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with the U.S. Department of Education's application processing system.

The May 2014 update contains revisions to valid field content in several layouts in the Record Layouts section (Section 3). Fields impacted by these updates include High School Name, Reprocessed Reason Code, and Assumed Parents’ Marital Status.

For more information on the revisions, consult the tracking log of changes section posted with the technical reference and as part of the Appendix section.

In addition to its current availability on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, the updated technical reference will also be available in the next several days from the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at https://www.fsadownload.ed.gov.
