Subject: Gainful Employment Electronic Announcement #47 - Posting of advance copy of proposed regulations and additional materials related to the Negotiated Rulemaking Committee
On June 12, 2013, the Department of Education published a notice in the Federal Register announcing its intention to establish a negotiated rulemaking committee for the purpose of preparing proposed regulations that would establish standards for programs that prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation. The Department posted, on the Office of Postsecondary Education’s web site, materials related to the negotiating sessions.
Today, the Department is making available a pre-publication copy of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on gainful employment programs. These proposed regulations have been transmitted to the Federal Register and will be published in the coming days. The official version will be the one posted in the Federal Register. In addition, we are posting supporting data to the analysis provided in the Regulatory Impact Analysis included in the NPRM. Those data include identifying information of postsecondary institutions.
