Subject: Resolution of NSLDS Loan Exit Counseling Completion Reports Issue
As the community is aware, loan exit counseling was moved this past spring from the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Student Access Web site to the StudentLoans.gov Web site. The Electronic Announcement posted to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site on April 5, 2013 provided clarifications related to the change, including the fact that all existing NSLDS loan exit counseling reports would remain available to inform schools that borrowers had completed loan exit counseling on StudentLoans.gov. However, as described in the announcement, there was an issue that was preventing a very small number of loan exit counseling sessions completed by borrowers on StudentLoans.gov from appearing on NSLDS loan exit counseling completion reports.
This issue was resolved on July 25, 2013 and NSLDS loan exit counseling completion reports generated on or after that date will provide all StudentLoans.gov loan exit counseling completion information.
In the coming weeks, we will be processing the borrower records that were previously not loaded into NSLDS. The exit counseling completion information will appear in the NSLDS loan exit counseling completion reports after the records are successfully processed by NSLDS.
For schools that are signed up for scheduled NSLDS reports, the borrower records will appear in the next scheduled report(s) after they are loaded to NSLDS. Depending on the school's selected report frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.), it may take more than one report for all of these records to appear.
For ad hoc reports run from the NSLDS Professional Access Web site, the records will appear in any report that is run after they are loaded to NSLDS, provided the date range selected by the user includes the new processed date(s).
We apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused schools.
