Subject: 2012-2013 EDE Technical Reference (July 2012 Update)
We are pleased to announce the posting of the updated 2012-2013 Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Technical Reference. The EDE Technical Reference provides programmer specifications, record layouts, and other detailed information for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with the U.S. Department of Education's application processing system.
The July 2012 update contains revisions to add new National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) postscreening codes for students who have exceeded, are close to exceeding, or are no longer exceeding or at risk of exceeding their maximum Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant) eligibility. For additional information about system updates related to the Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) process, refer to the June 29, 2012 Electronic Announcement posted on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.
This update also includes an expanded description of the conditions causing Reject 21.
For more information on the revisions, consult the tracking log of changes posted with the guide or in the Appendix.
In addition to its current availability on the IFAP Web site, the guide will also be available in the next several days from the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at https://www.fsadownload.ed.gov.
