Subject: OUTAGE ALERT - Federal Student Aid Web Site Outages Scheduled for January 13-15, 2012
During the period of January 13-15, 2012, we plan to execute extended Web site maintenance and operating system upgrades to several Federal Student Aid Web sites in addition to our routine maintenance that occurs each weekend.
This announcement provides information about the Web sites that will be affected during the extended maintenance period. Please review the information in this announcement and evaluate the impact on your school or organization during the period when the affected Web sites will be unavailable.
COD System and Web Site Outage Information on January 13-14, 2012
We will suspend Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) batch processing beginning at 8:00 P.M. (ET) on Friday, January 13, 2012. Records submitted after this time will be held and processed after 8:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
Note: All actual disbursements with a disbursement date from January 13, 2012 through January 14, 2012 must be received by the COD System no later than 9:00 A.M. (ET) on Friday, January 13, 2012, and subsequently accepted by the COD System, in order to generate the appropriate funding level increase prior to the outage. Disbursements submitted by the deadline but not subsequently accepted, disbursements submitted after the deadline, and disbursements with a disbursement date after January 14, 2012 will be processed and funded after the outage.
In addition, between 8:00 P.M. (ET) on Friday, January 13, 2012 and 8:00 P.M. (ET) on Saturday, January 14, 2012—
Users will not be able to submit or retrieve data via the COD Web site.
Users will not be able to access the COD Reports area of the COD Web site.
An individual will not be able to complete online Direct Loan Entrance Counseling, complete a new Master Promissory Note (MPN) electronically, complete a Direct PLUS Loan Request electronically, endorse a Direct PLUS Loan electronically, or view loan correspondence via the StudentLoans.gov Web site.
An individual will not be able to complete TEACH Grant Initial and Subsequent Counseling, complete a new TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve (ATS), or retrieve an existing ATS via the TEACH Grant Web site.
Note: The COD System will undergo routine maintenance on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 5:00 A.M. (ET) until 11:00 A.M. (ET). During this period, batch processing and Web site availability will again be impacted.
Federal Student Aid Web Site Impacts on January 14-15, 2012
From 11:00 P.M. (ET) Saturday, January 14, 2012 until 7:00 P.M. (ET) on Sunday, January 15, 2012, users will be unable to access the following Web sites. Users attempting to access an impacted Web site during this period will receive an error message informing them that the page cannot be found or that the site is unavailable due to maintenance.

Holiday Processing and Customer Service Hours on January 16, 2012
In addition to the system maintenance periods listed above, Monday, January 16, 2012 is the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday. All Federal Student Aid Web sites will remain operational on the holiday.
