Subject: Delay in Availability of New Login Process for Some NSLDS Professional Access Web Site Users on December 19, 2011

As previously communicated (December 8, 2011 and December 15, 2011), we moved the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) behind Federal Student Aid’s Access and Identity Management System (AIMS) on December 18, 2011. While we have completed the actual infrastructure move, the loading of individual NSLDS user records is still in process and will result in a delay in availability for some NSLDS users.

For the overwhelming majority of NSLDS users, the NSLDS and its new login process are fully available to users. However, for those users whose records have not yet been loaded, there will be a delay in their ability to log in using the new process.

We are expeditiously working to load the remaining NSLDS user records and expect that the NSLDS and its new login process will be fully available to the remaining NSLDS users by mid-morning today, December 19, 2011. We will post another Electronic Announcement on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site once the NSLDS is fully available to all users.

We regret the inconvenience this delay causes affected NSLDS users and appreciate their patience as we complete our work.

Important Reminder: With the move behind AIMS, NSLDS users will no longer enter their NSLDS ID and password to log in to the Web site. Instead, a Federal Student Aid User ID (FSA User ID) and password will be used to authenticate each user’s identity prior to allowing access to the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. If an NSLDS user does not currently have an FSA User ID, the user will not be able to access the NSLDS Professional Access Web site until he or she completes the registration steps outlined in our posted communications. For complete information, refer to our December 8, 2011 Electronic Announcement, GA-2011-07, or LLS-2011-05 on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.
