Note: On July 10, 2012, we updated this announcement to include the suite number that is part of the street address for express or overnight delivery for mailing paper Master Promissory Notes (MPNs) and Endorser Addenda. The suite number is shown in red below.

A school should include the suite number in the street address when sending paper MPNs and Endorser Addenda to the Department.

On December 19, 2011, the street address for sending paper Master Promissory Notes (MPNs) and Endorser Addenda to the Department of Education (the Department) via express or overnight delivery will change. There is no change to the current P.O. Box address used for regular postal delivery:

Department of Education
P. O. Box 5692
Montgomery, AL 36103-5692

The new street address for express or overnight delivery will be as follows:

What does this mean for a school and its borrowers?

In most cases, there should be minimal impact on schools and borrowers. However, a school should adjust its processes and documentation accordingly. In addition, while packages will be forwarded to the new location for a limited time, a school should begin to use the new street address as soon as possible after December 19, 2011.

We are in the process of adding the new address to the appropriate posted documents, such as the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) Technical Reference, and the appropriate Web sites.
