Subject: Prior-Year LRDRs Not Included in FY 2009 Official Cohort Default Rate Package Sent to Some Schools
In a September 12, 2011 Electronic Announcement posted on the Information for Financial Aid Professional (IFAP) Web site, the Department of Education (the Department) communicated that it distributed the FY 2009 Official Cohort Default Rate (eCDR) notification packages to all eligible domestic and foreign schools via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG).
The eCDR package consisted of a rate notification letter and the Loan Record Detail Report (LRDR) for Cohort Year 2009 in both report and extract format. We have discovered an issue with the LRDRs for some schools.
Specifically, for schools that qualified for a three-year average rate because they had less than 30 borrower entering repayment in Cohort Year 2009, the package should have also included LRDR output for Cohort Years 2007 and 2008. Prior-year LRDRs should also have been sent for lead schools in a combination where any of the schools in the combination qualified for a three-year average rate.
Due to a technical issue, prior-year LRDRs were not included in the eCDR package. A new distribution of LRDRs for all three Cohort years will be sent to all schools affected by this issue on September 16, 2011. The files will be sent to the same SAIG mailbox that was used in the initial eCDR distribution.
We regret the inconvenience this issue may have caused you.
